Pope Francis issued motu propio (by his own will) on July 16, 2021, an apostolic letter, Traditionis Custodes, severely restricting use of the Traditional Latin (Tridentine) Mass. Pope Francis has now followed up on December 18, 2021, with a Responsa ad Dubia that clarifies questions raised by the letter in a manner even more stringent towards the Tridentine Rite. Faithful Catholics have expressed anger that Pope Francis has so damaged one of the few signs of vitality in a modern Catholic Church beset by numerous malaises like declining membership. To discuss the importance of these matters for Catholics and non-Catholics, show host Andrew E. Harrod will join Crisis Magazine Editor-in-Chief Eric Sammons, who has accused Pope Francis of "spiritual abuse."
