Russia's military is on a lot of people's minds since Russian dictator Vladimir Putin launched an invasion of Ukraine on February 24. How strong is the Russian military in the twenty-first century? Paper tiger, predatory bear, or somewhat in-between? Can Russia effectively conquer Ukraine? Does Russia's invasion of Ukraine portend wider Russian threats to European security such as in the Baltic countries? Under what circumstances would Russia use nuclear weapons? How should the West respond?
