There were a couple more mid-season firings in the world of college football. One probably should have happened at the end of last season, while the other probably shouldn't have happened at all. The fact they had to beg the outgoing coach to attend the team meeting where/when it was announced speaks volumes.And of course, I'll review last Saturday's Hawkeye loss to Michigan, and the now wide-open B1G West Division.

We lost my mother-in-law last week (hence Vito handling the show, with assists from HawkeyeMike and tbodee!). Rather than doing obituaries today, I'll talk about what it means to lose a parent, mother, grandmother, sister and mother-in-law. The effect one has on the formative years of their kids AND grandkids is a lot greater than just birthday and Christmas presents, and lasts far longer than either of those. It also happens to be my (and my wife's) 26th wedding anniversary today, so it's rather timely.

Hurricane Ian has left devastation in its wake through Florida and parts of the Carolinas. I'll talk about why many looked so ill-prepared, who might be to blame for that (yes, there is at least some blame to be assessed), and what preparations you should have for just about any disaster situation.
