“The Word Saves”

John 12:44-50

 One of the most beautiful and encouraging prophecies in the Old Testament declares, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined” (see Isaiah 9:2). Luke described the coming of Christ as the coming of “the dayspring from on high” (see Luke 1:78), and Paul rejoiced that “God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (see II Corinthians 4:6). Just as light dispels darkness, our LORD and Saviour dispels the darkness of sin
