This episode will feature Dr. Abul Pitre, an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Fayetteville State Univerity. Prior to joining the faculty at Fayetteville State University some of Dr. Pitre experiences included working in the Curriculum Theory Project at Louisiana State University. Another notable accomplishment was the transformation that he brought to North Central High School in Louisiana. As a result of the ongoing problems at the school Pitre initiated a mentoring program for Black males at the school. This initiative led to the development of an African American studies course at the school which eventually became a parish wide course. He was appointed as Chair of the Social Studies Department. His research interests are multicultural education, critical pedagogy, and the education of African American students. We will be discussing the condition of Black America,Dr. Pitre's book(s) and journey towards education, the materialization of blacks as well as what it will take to put us back on top of civilization.
