The Alief area and surrounding communities are organizing an NAACP chapter. Host Errol Jones interviewed Carmen Watkins, NAACP Southwest Regional Director to continue the process of developing this historical organization on the West Side of Houston including the outlying areas.
Pastor Troy J. Wilson, Pastor Aquila F. Riggins participated in the conversation and are committed to developing the Alief and West Houston chapter of the NAACP.
A top priority which encouraged the passionate efforts of so many participants has been the behavior of key leaders in the Alief ISD.
We have found it difficult to understand the unresponsiveness of the leadership to issues raised by employees, parents, and community leaders. This behavior has led to a call by some for the immediate resignation of Superintendent H D Chambers, recently re-elected board member Sarah Winkler, Deputy Superintendent Gina Tomas, Special Education Director Martha Bissett, and Killough Middle School Principal Bryan Brown.
Mr. Jones has been contacted by investigative reporters from local news agencies.
These radio broadcasts are the precursor for upcoming townhall meetings in the Alief ISD community.
