La Matanza was a series of brutal attacks and lynchings of Mexican ethnics by Anglo-Texans that took place between 1910 and 1920, in the midst of tension between the United States and Mexico during the Mexican Revolution.[1] These violent acts and killings were committed by Texan vigilantes and law enforcement, including the Texas Rangers during their operations against bandit raids, known as the Bandit Wars.[1] It is estimated that at least 571 lynchings of Mexican Americans took place between 1848 and 1928, twenty percent of which occurred in the 1910s; however, in total, it is estimated that about 5000 Mexican Americans were killed during this period. - Wikipedia
