Before deciding to become a teacher, Teresa Cooper worked as a Caseworker for Social Services and then taught special education for 8 years. Now, she teaches math to 7th graders. Teresa is the author of Embracing the Spectrum, a blog that offers the achievements and struggles of a family in which one person has diagnosis of Autism Spectrum to provide support, encouragement, and awareness of autism.
She also writes articles about teaching and special education for The Educator's Room. She has certifications in Special Education, Secondary Math, Elementary Education, and Middle School Language Arts.
Teresa became a huge advocate for children with disabilities since one of her two children has Autism. She's been featured on The Washington Post, Ten-step Survival Guide for Special-Ed Teachers, and with guest blog posts on other sites as well.
