Nicole has spent her career working on behalf of animals with a diverse focus on campaigns, outreach, public policy, and management. Prior to joining The HSUS, Nicole was the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Born Free USA. She has assisted countless states and cities with introducing and passing wildlife laws and has played an integral role in successfully defeating bills that would weaken existing protections for wildlife. Nicole is a graduate of Vermont Law School, a member of the California, District of Columbia, and Massachusetts Bars.

The HSUS works to maintain longstanding protections for bears and to end the cruel and unsporting practices of bear baiting, hounding, trapping and springtime hunting.

Since the Cecil slaying, 38 airlines have committed to halting the shipping of the Africa Big Five. Delta, United, and American Airlines – the big U.S.-based carriers with service to Africa — are among the airlines to ban shipping lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo trophies.
