What is moral injury?
Moral injury refers to an injury to an individual’s moral conscience resulting from an act of perceived moral transgression which produces profound emotional shame. Oftentimes this is a hidden injury that normally does not respond to therapeutic treatment in a clinical setting, but more often is helped by sharing personal stories in a safe, trusted and nonjudgmental environment. The concept of moral injury emphasizes the psychological, cultural, and spiritual aspects of trauma.
What is our purpose?
We believe we are called to serve seniors and their loved ones. We recognize that many seniors are also veterans and thus, we seek to partner with local churches and ministry organizations to develop a practical means of helping veterans and their families who suffer from moral injury. While our main focus is to provide care and assistance to aging veterans, we believe this ministry will be beneficial in helping veterans of all ages.
