Guest Speaker Brandy Jo Middleton discusses her Mom Evelyn Tutor last days

On May 5, 2022 Brandi Jo Middleton’s Mom, Evelyn Tutor lost her balance and accidentally fell down the stairs resulting in a 911 call. She was transferred to a hospital in Tennessee instead of her normal Veterans Administration facility. It was determined she had a proximal humerus fracture (broken shoulder) which can only be treated by immobilizing. Over the next 10 days Brandi drove to the hospital and called numerous times trying to advocate for her Mom to be provided proper care. While her Mom screamed in pain and Brandi did everything to get help, she was told by a nurse that both she and her Mom were being dramatic.

Repeatedly Brandi’s cries for help were ignored when she said that her Mom’s condition was not normal and her Mom was screaming in pain and not eating. Eventually Brandi had to throw a fit and doctors came in and realized Evelyn Tutor was septic and was rushed into ICU where she was put on a vent and died the next day on May 16, 2022.
