Why was I ashamed to ask for a Black Doctor?

Despite the discrimination that's been revealed in the medical field and mistreatment of patients of the African Diaspora, there are also classism and cultural biases that have a huge impact on the care you are provided. Most importantly, there are some health issues that are more common and/or isolated to different races of people. So why are we afraid to request that more black doctors are hired in hospitals?
