2 Kings 12:1-2, 20-21 2 Kings 11:1-3, 20-21 When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal heirs. In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba. But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were being murdered; and they hid him and his nurse in the bedroom, from Athaliah, so that he was not killed. Jehoash did what was right in the sight of the Lord all the days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him. So he was hidden with her in the house of the Lord for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land. So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, for they had slain Athaliah with the sword in the king’s house. And his servants arose and formed a conspiracy, and killed Joash in the house of the Millo, which goes down to Silla. Jehoash was seven years old when he became king. For Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
