Let’s talk tonight about Parenting Special Needs Kids, and specifically about discipline and boundaries used with them.

When we speak tonight about special needs kids, we are specifically addressing medical issues that may have a profound effect on the child’s ability to process discipline, boundaries, socialization, appropriate professional and legal conduct in society as they grow up, communication with others, and similar issues.

Also, we may predominantly use the words “kids” or “child,” but a portion of this show is dedicated to addressing having to continue to parent such children into their teens and well into legal adulthood, often because of problems associated with their individual pathologies.
We will explain what each of these conditions is, discuss specific discipline and conduct issues that are frequently relevant to each diagnosis, and then discuss aspects of parenting someone with each condition, from childhood, to youth, and even into full adulthood.

We will begin the show with some topic-relevant rock music played by Dr. Mathis, and then some rock music trivia, followed by tonight's topic!
