Javicz Jones was voted D3football.com National Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-American honors from three different organizations this year. The senior linebacker led the team with 135 tackles and set a new school record with eight interceptions. The versatile Dream Bowl invite also has 12.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, two blocked kicks and three forced fumbles. Jones was a two-time D3football.com South Region Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was a three-time ASC All-Conference selection. Recently Jones took part in the Houston Texans Local Day (April 13th). The small school prospect is making considerable push to earn a training camp invite in the National Football League.
