Rutgers’ strong safety Lorenzo Waters earned a spot on the Associated Press All-Bowl Team. He started all 13 games at strong safety and led the secondary with 71 tackles. Waters tied for team lead with two interceptions and totaled a game-high 14 tackles (10 solo) in the Quick Lane Bowl (12/26) win against North Carolina, adding two fumble recoveries and a blocked field goal. His stellar played earned him AP All-Bowl Team. He also received the Iron Knight Award at team banquet, presented to the player who has demonstrated an exceptionally high level of mental and physical toughness throughout his career. He was also one of 27 named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team, picking up the status for the fourth time A three-year starter in the defensive backfield for Rutgers, Waters finished his career with 211 tackles, 14 stops for loss, four sacks, seven pass break-ups, five forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. The senior led the RU secondary with 71 tackles in 2014.
