(On Words of Silence)--"The Birth of the Church"

I have talked for several weeks about "On Words of Silence" ... a somewhat difficult ifi not, mystical phrase.  And yet, it becomes, in the life of the Saint, an incredibly important truth.  So many times, we find the world (and us with is) talking...talking...talking...without adding value to our life or the lives of others.  

The idea of "On Words of Silence" is quite simple.  When we are silent in meditation, abiding, dwelling, contemplating, reflecting, etc. on God and things of God we have the incredible opportunity to interact with God, Himself.  And if so, what words would we speak; what words would we respond with when God communicates with us?  Would we say, "Thank you God?"; would we say, "Yes God?" "Would we dare use words suggesting disagreement or questioning or anger or disappointment?  For me, "Words of Silence" suggest using as few words as possible; words of gratitude or a simple "Yes, Lord" or "Thank You, Lord."  This implies using our spiritual ears to listen, listen, listen to and for Him with a heart of moving to and from God.  I think these times of listen will help us to choose our words to others very carefully; use less words in conversations thus lessening the temptation to getting involved in "The Thick of Thin Things!"  To be in a state of silence with God teaches us what to say to others; what ideas to share; the virtual elimination of opinions; I think so.
