Pendergrass was the lead singer with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes of the 1970's and 1980's before he went solo with Philadelphia International Records.

Teddy became disabled after tragic car crash that made him a C6 quad so he would never walk again. He made a wonderful musical comeback with the smash hit JOY with is one of my fav records because he is talking about his daughter named Joy. At the time there was a little girl that was born at the Oakland Alameda County Colisum the last day of the season in 1980 so this song is very special for me because he name is JOY ... Joy would climb in my lap and I would take her for ride every game ... she loved it. Joy now is over 30 years old and a very beautiful woman
