Our guest this morning is Kevin Hanson, President of the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge, No. 1378

Kevin Hanson is a native of Redondo Beach and graduated from Redondo Union High School. Though he spent some time away for his early undergraduate studies, he has maintained his permanent residence in Redondo Beach. One of his favorite hobbies is to collect screen-used movie and TV memorabilia.

Kevin’s professional life has seen parallel tracks over the last 23 years with entertainment industry work in front of and behind cameras and microphones, as well as work in public relations, catalog editing, and dabbling in fields that require the occasional broker.

As a youth Kevin was a member of Boy Scout Troop 655 chartered to the local Elks Lodge and received his Eagle Scout Award in the Lodge Room.

Kevin became a member of the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge, No. 1378, of the Benevolent and Protective Elks of the United States of America in April of 1996 and soon became active in committee work and became an elected officer of the Lodge. In 1999, Kevin became the Exalted Rule (President) of the Lodge and helped the membership celebrate the 80th Anniversary of their Charter.

Kevin has maintained his membership and activity at the Elks Lodge over the past two decades and, among other work, is part of the 100th Anniversary planning committee preparing for a year of celebrations during the 2019-2020 Fraternal Year.

This morning, we’re going to learn the history of our local Elks lodge and some of the events that take place at the facility.
