Our guests this morning are Lisa Gentry, Karen Learned and Melanie MacLean from the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show.

Lisa Gentry joined Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital (PCCH) in 2005. She currently serves as the organization’s president, overseeing both the Seahorse Classic golf tournament and the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show.

Karen Learned has lived in the South Bay most of her life. She attended intermediate and high school in Palos Verdes before attending college in Colorado.

Melanie MacLean is a South Bay native, and has been an avid equestrian since she was a young girl, riding on the trails of Palos Verdes in the 1970s and then competing in the horse show ring.

Jacquie Leimbach is unable to participate in podcast this morning, but it’s important to mention her. Jacquie is the Horse Show chair this year, and she arrived bright and early this morning at Ernie Howlett Park to supervise the legion of volunteers and professional crews setting up for the show.

The Portuguese Bend National Horse Show begins tomorrow, Friday, September 6th and runs through Sunday, September 8th at Ernie Howlett Park in Rolling Hills Estates.

This morning, we’re going to learn what attendees can expect at this year’s event.
