Our guests this morning are Christian Wolf, Larissa Bates, Melissa Ginsburg and Rafael Porter from Dancing with the South Bay Stars V. The event takes place this Saturday, February 27 at the James Armstrong Theater in Torrance.

Christian Wolf is the Executive and Artistic Director for the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation and a regular contributor to this program. His background in the arts is as eclectic as they come. After putting on plays in his living room as a child, he was a performing magician by age 12.

Larissa Bates is a professional dancer and studied ballet, tap, and jazz, beginning at five years of age. She put a strict focus on ballroom dance as a member of The Ballroom Performance Group at The University of Georgia and began teaching ballroom dance immediately after graduation, soon becoming the top female instructor in all of Georgia.

Rafael Porter will be dancing for Families in Schools. He is a native of San Francisco and moved to Los Angeles almost 5 years ago with his family. When he’s not in the office working as a technology consultant, he can often be found playing a pickup game of soccer or hiking in the great outdoors most weekends.

Melissa Ginsburg is dancing for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She moved to California from Louisiana in 2006, has been a nurse for the last 15 years and is happily married to Jeff Ginsburg, Redondo Beach District 1 City Council Member. Melissa was also a member of the Leadership Redondo Class of 2012.

This morning, we’re going to get the inside scoop and maybe some back stage gossip on this year’s event and find out if our local dancers are ready for the spotlight.
