Being single and parenting is a different way of parenting but it can be done. You may see a mom, dad or grandmother as the single parent. It is more common now than many years past. Sometimes a parent will feel overwhelmed by being the one to take care of house managing, the main out of home worker or sometimes work at home parent supplying the income for the family. Sometimes the income is significantly reduced causing the parent to find supplement ways to bring an income. And yes caring for the children.
When a parent takes sole parenting they are faced with several emotional changes:
The ongoing communication with the other parent
The time spent in past with the parent/child changes
Changes in the the childs performance in school due to the changes
Previous relationships with family members bring on changes and emotions
When new mates enter the family this can be good or not.
As a parent it will always help to communicate and let your child know what has happened and to be there to hear and let them talk instead of keeping it in. If you have supportive people in family, church, or other social group utilize this. If you just cannot seem to handle things, it is possible you may want to find a professional, this works I learned based on personal talks with individuals.
