March Madness sports betting is a booming business for states. Since the Supreme Court opened the door to legal sports gambling in 2018, the business has brought in over $2.6 billion in state tax revenue. More than 52% of people, plan to wager $10.1 billion on the 2023 March Madness tournament, according to American Gaming Association (AGA) research.

How does this impact our children as athletes and non-athletes (college students or have joined the workforces)? Do we as parents have a concern here or do we say they are adults making their decisions? For this event alone, more than $10 billion will be waged. Out of this $10 billion, $6 billion from legal sources and an additional $4 billion from illegal sources.
