The United States is the world's leader in incarceration. There are 2.2 million individuals in the nation's prison and jails. There has also been a 500% increase of individuals going to jail or prison in the last 40 years. There have been changes made to laws and policy. However such is not helping the crime rate. This could explain most of the increase. Then more individuals are being sent to jail or prison at an enormous rate, Such is creating a mass incarceration which however has not impacted all communities equally.

The Criminal Justice System is the system of practices and institution of government directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, or sanctions those who violate laws by imposing criminal penalties and rehabilitation efforts.

The Criminal Justice System consist of three main parts: (1) Law Enforcement, police, sheriff and marshals. (2) Adjudication Courts which include judges, proceutors, defense lawyers and (3) corrections, prison officials, probation and parole officers.

There are major steps in processing a criminal case. However when it comes to the Criminal Justice System many believe that the system is broken consisting of unfair sentencing and racial disparity.

Join me and Attorney Brandie Devall as we assist individuals in understanding the criminal justice system. The Justice System can be very complex and difficult to understand. Many commit crimes however yet ther appears to  be such a huge disparity in the sentencing time.
