Not so fun fact: Rep. Mike Johnson (R+Louisiana), a Christian nationalist, was recently elected as Speaker of the US House of Representatives. He argued that if women were FORCED to give birth to more "abled-bodied" workers, Republicans wouldn't be forced to cut Social Security and Medicare. He called for 10 years hard labor as punishment for an abortion under any circumstances. Even for incest and rape. The House has now gone full MAGA with his ascension as House Speaker. Should America be worried? Hell yes!

The latest mass shooting happened in Maine. It was reported that 18 people died and 13 more seriously injured. Republicans, along with their top leadership, says "now is not the time to talk about gun control". If not now, when? Their response was "Our thoughts and prayers for victims, their friends and families." What will it take for Congress to act positively regarding stopping gun violence?
