Josephine LoRe’s words have been read on stage and zoom-rooms, put to music, danced, integrated into art, and published in 11 countries and 4 languages including FreeFall in Canada, Tiny Seed in the US, and journals in Italy, England, Ireland, Germany, and Japan. Josephine has two collections, Unity and the Calgary Herald Bestseller The Cowichan Series. She is a member of the League of Canadian Poets and diverse online reading communities. She received the Norma Epstein Award for Creative Writing and was shortlisted for the 2019 Room Poetry Prize. She teaches workshops, mentors emerging poets, serves as an editor, and judges poetry competitions. She collaborates with artists and musicians, and her poetry can be found on YouTube and Bandcamp.
Josephine is a Toronto-born first-generation Canadian of Sicilian descent who completed a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature in France. This candlelight poet lives and creates on land traditionally inhabited by the Piikani, Siksika, Kainai, Tsuut'ina and Nakota peoples.
