The Special Needs of Foster Care Children with Expert Dr. John DeGarmo

Dr. John DeGarmo is a popular speaker and trainer in the foster care system, meeting regularly with foster parents, child welfare workers, churches, schools, and organizations. He is also the host of his own podcast, The Parent Factor with Dr. John, a call-in show about all things parenting.

Dr. John wrote his doctoral disseration on the challenges that foster children face in public schools, and has personally fostered over a dozen children. He has a passion for all things foster care.

Dr. DeGarmo is the author of several foster care books, including the training book The Foster Parenting Manual: A Practical Guide to Creating a Loving, Safe, and Stable Home,  as well as the foster care children's book A Different Home: A New Foster Child's Story. He writes regularly for the Huffington Post, as well as several other publications and newsletters, both in the United States and Europe.

Dr. John DeGarmo and his wife have six children, both biological and adoptive. They are currently foster parents to three siblings, bringing their household to nine children.
