A Rebel is defined as a person who opposes the codes and conventions of society and stands out
amongst the norm, and singer/songwriter Sonyaé Elise?aka Lady Rebel is out to do just that.
Born in Newark, NJ to a family of talented musicians and producers, Sonyaé quickly gravitated
towards the stage at a young age, appearing in on and off Broadway performances of acclaimed
shows including The Lion King, Le Misérable, Little Shop of Horrors and Ragtime. In 2011,
Sonyaé won the inaugural season of Bravo TV’s songwriting competition ‘Platinum Hit’,
gaining her national recognition as a forthcoming R&B sensation due to her raw, heartfelt music
and a host of hit songs including ‘My Religion’. Following ‘Platinum Hit’, Sonyaé went on to
release two mixtapes, Lady Rebel Vol. 1 and Lady Rebel Vol. 2, earning her an army of fans
and supporters affectionately known as Lady Rebel Gang.
Sonyaé’s underground success and undeniable talent landed her collaborations with an array of
Multi-Platinum producers and Grammy-Nominated songwriters including Jill Scott, Kara
DioGuardi, Frank Ocean, JR Rotem, Jerry Wonda, Tricky Stewart, The Game, Machine Gun
Kelly and Anderson Paak. Sonyaé recently released the highly-anticipated EP, S[HE]S
BR[OK]EN, which boasts original production from industry heavy-hitters including Devin
Cruise, J. U. S. T. I. C. E. League, DJ Camper, JV and Malay (Chanel Orange), and more.
