“LaJé, born and raised on the East Side of Chicago in the South Shore neighborhood, has had a very versatile taste in music growing up. Her exposure to different genres of music is displayed through her music and eclectic.
earthy aesthetic. Laje was influenced by the sound of the 1990's. specifically Missy Elliott, Destiny's Child, Usher, Fall Out Boy. Paramore, Gospel, and more. At the age of 8, Laje wrote her first song after getting her feelings hurt by her mom and her passion for writing was born. From recording her first song in her college dorm to a full fledged artist, Laje’ sound has matured and she continues to level up within her writing and expand her sound by creating different music. Starting out as a rapper. she quickly adapted to creating different types of metodies and learning the formalities of creating a song. “Rap is easier but when you sing, you have harmonies and can create different types of melodies. it was more intriguing.”
She has proven to be a front runner by being featured in the AT&T campaign. “it's a (773) Thing” and was named WGCI's Next To Blow: Artist of the Month. She's also been on Power 92.3's Lit Pit segment. as one of DJ Hot Rod's personal favorite picks. and recently released a 5 song EP “Valedictorian”.
