Sometimes Research leads into a world of strange obscure corners of History
I picked up the record at the Whittier Public Library Used Book Store
It's a single sided Vocalion 78 rpm record “O dry those tears”. I did not know anything about the artists and not much more about the record. So while trying to find out information I stumbled into a Google Search and Found an online version of “The Wireless Age “Volume 9 Number 11 August 1922 article about Nellie and Sara Koon’s sailing back to America where they met and sailed with Guglielmo Marconi (inventor and electrical engineer, known for his pioneering work on long-distance radio transmission, development of Marconi's law, and a radio telegraph system. He is credited as the inventor of radio,). ALL of this happened in or around 1922.
Why you ask is this important? Because I got my Amateur Radio License about a year ago, enjoy old records, Podcasting, and finding strange obscure corners of History.
Thank You to John M. at the Whittier Public Library Used Book Store for starting this adventure
