Joy is not something that is promised by God for those that obey His Commandments. In fact, when you decide to 'do right', AKA, be holy, Satan will come down on you like a ton of bricks, trying to get you to go back on your 'process of Sanctification'. But for bondservants, this is the expected result of the commitment to righteousness. It is by sticking with it, and deciding day by day to 'do right to be right' that the Holy Spirit brings real 'Honest to God' JOY, that comes from the knowledge that we are 'overcoming as Jesus overcame'. To quote Winston Churchill, "Never, never, never . . . give up".
