The Bible on Trial

It's the last Friday beforet Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise has been up in the hardware store where I work since the end of October. This is the norm for this 'season', because if we don't get it up then we will be WAY behind in sales by Thanksgiving. 

This used to be NOT the norm. I remember as a boy growing up in Glendale Ca., that the no one, either private or public, put up Christmas Holiday decorations until the day AFTER Thanksgiving. According to my parents, this was because we needed to spend time thinking about what we were thankful for, instead of what we were wishing for. In those days the idea of shop until you drop was not a 'thing'. Yes, we bought presents for each other (or most probably in elementary school MADE the presents), but the societal model was to be greatful for what we had, and not demand a constant 'more more more'.

I believe that our society today has lost sight of the concept that we are incredibly fortunate to live in the USA, where instead of our every dream coming true at the drop of a credit card, we have the opportunity to live in a freedom that was the reason that the Pilgrims made the arduous journey from Europe to the Americas, and through the burning desire for Freedom to live, and move and have their being in a place where despots could not kill you on a whim, and where success was a matter of hard word, perserverance, and trust that God would work His will in their lives.

And Today I actually see that same love for freedom, with a large helping of a love of Truth, hovering just under the surface of the diabolical situation in which we find ourselves, due to a small reserve of people that mimic the ideals of the Kings and Princes from which our Founders made their escape in the late 15th Century. 

We are just about to see this Renewed Freedom break forth as the dawn in this world.
