Choose what you will obey~
Yesterday was a monumentous day in the USA, because in a 6 to 3 vote the SCOTUS overturned a 50 year old 'law' that gave Constitutional recognition of the 'right' of a woman to get an abortion. In overturning Roe v Wade the Supreme Court stated that the original law was flawed in that there was no direct statement in the Bill of Rights granting a woman a 'right' to an abortion, and that as per the original founding documents any Right not enumerated as a Federal law in the Constitution was to be decided by the various legislatures of the States themselves. This is where these types of not directly stated issues should be decided, and not at a Federal level. Whatever your position on this issue of Roe v Wade there is now a decision that must be made by the people of the USA, and that is, do you now obey the Law or not.
Given the history of the Christian church since the first century is seems to me that there is now going to be huge protests against complying with the Supreme Court decision, because it doesn't fit the viewpoint of people that disagree with it. Christians believe that Paul is a true Apostle of Jesus, and that what he said about salvation is the truth, even though what Jesus said to His own eyewitness disciples is totally different. Christians have decided en mass to NOT obey the words of Jesus, or the words of God in the Old Testament. They have decided to obey the words of someone that has sought to change the laws concerning salvation and eternal life to something more palitable and easier to live with here on earth.
And there is the rub. Why not just change the Law to suit your opinions, rather than obey the Laws that have been given by God? Why not just say that if it doesn't fit your idea of what is right then either igore it, or protest the decision and force God to do your will?
This type of thinking will not work in either case.
