Rev 3:18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

Truth is the most precious commodity in the universe, which is why it is shown as Gold in prophecy. We know that this commodity is not real gold, because physical gold is used for pavement in the New Jerusalem. The Truth will always be something that the majority of humanity does not posess, which is why it is so precious and rare. 

Yet, the final step toward Eternal Life is the aquiring, acknowledging, and practicing the Truth. This would be impossible under the conditions of the Death Road Prophecies of Revelation 13, because the idea is that the whole world "wonders after the beast", where everyone on earth without exception believes lies as if they are the truth. If you look at what is going on in the world today there are many millions of people that reject (at least partially) the concept that lies are truth, and truth is lies. This means that we have changed from the Death Road prophecies to the Life Road prophecies, that allows that a significant number of the popularion of the world has rejected Satan and his lies, and worship the God of Truth, even if they don't know what that truth is.
