Very early in social evolution, the mores tended to crystallize in restriction of sex relations among near relatives; outbreeding greatly increased the selective opportunity for evolutionary variation and advancement. Many tribes eventually forbade marriages within the clan, but outmarriage finally dominated because it was a peace promoter and a nation builder.
