Tonight, on It's Real Talk Radio, we will be discussing the recent protests and riots around the country in response to the inhumane murder of Minnesota resident, George Floyd. You have to be living under a rock to not know about George Floyd's brutal murder which was captured on cell phone videos and shared all across social media and news outlets. As a direct response, people began to protest peacefully which in some cases, turned into rioting and looting. Some rioters even went as far as throwing objects at police officers and damaging police property. There was even a Minnesota police precinct that got burned down.
George Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020. All 4 of George Floyd's arresting officers were fired from the Minneapolis Police Department 24 hours later on May 26, 2020. 3 days later, on May 29, 2020, former officer Derek Chauvin was charged with 3rd Degree Murder and Manslaughter. 5 days later, on May 3, 2020, the other 3 arresting officers at the scene of George Floyd's murder were charged with Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Murder and Derek Chauvin had his charge upgraded from 3rd Degree Murder, to Second Degree Murder.
It took 4 days for Derek Chauvin to be charged and 9 days for the other 3 arresting officers to be charged. Meanwhile, public outcry roared across the media, social media and all throughout protests around the country, as concerned and scorn citizens demanded justice for George Floyd.
Developments are occurring by the hour and we are doing our best to stay informed and updated so we can deliver the most accurate information possible during our discussion.
We will also be touching on President Trump's controversial remarks to looters and rioters, while giving George Floyd's murder minimal attention and failing to unite the country in a time when it is greatly needed.
