16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. (1 Timothy 4:16) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
As we can see from Scripture, Paul was anxious to urge Timothy to stay true to the [teaching] doctrine that he had heard from Paul and the others who had been true disciples of Christ. By the ability of the Holy Spirit, God desires His people to base their faith on something; not to arbitrarily take bits and pieces of Scripture to create abstract doctrine of our own.
Today let's take an open and thoughtful look at Paul's focus on Timothy's attenton to "rightly dividing the word of truth."
