Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Under most circumstances, deceitfulness is not a noble word. An online search of synonyms reveals words that have similar meaning are: shiftiness, craftiness, vileness, double-dealing, wile, cunning, deceit, worldliness, deception, duplicity and guile.

Sound like anyone you know? Certainly not you though, right?

Wrong, according to God's Word we are naturally, from birth, sinful to the point of "deceiving" ourselves we are not.

In his commentary biblical scholar, Matthew Henry makes an observation that is well worth considering.

Matthew Henry (concise) The heart, the conscience of man, in his corrupt and fallen state, is deceitful above all things. It calls evil good and good evil; and cries peace to those to whom it does not belong.

Calls evil good and good evil? Is that true in your life? Let's take a look and see.
