60/60: Garrett Fortner - Stands Ten Toes Down

Garrett R. Fortner is a Brooklyn, New York native and grassroots Publisher for over 20 years. His titles include New Word magazine, Boom Collective, Menstayfly, and American Girls From Around The Way.  His Forty-One Fifty product line was named for the number of shots NYC police fired at Amadou Diallo and Sean Bell. A percentage of the proceeds of these products fund programs to reform the criminal justice system. He firmly believes that a grassroots approach is essential to addressing these problems plaguing communities of color.
