When we get married and we say vows to be together "in sickness and in health, til death do we part" we should be prepared for the eventuality that one or both of us may become chronically ill before we pass away from this life, particularly if we grow old together, as we intend to when we get  married.  With age often comes a breakdown of the body and various illnesses, some which may be very difficult to deal with. What happens if your spouse loses hearing? sight? the ability to walk? the mental capacity to communicate? Can you stay with your spouse til the end even then? This is what we're promising our Creator to do when we marry, and yet, have we even had that conversation with our loved one as to how they would like to be cared for in the eventuality that they  require care in their elder years? Do they want an in home nurse or would they prefer to live in a nursing home? Do they have children they expect to step in and look after them full time? Have you and your spouse had that conversation about what should you do when one of you needs help? If you live long enough, you will get old and you may get ill. Is your spouse the type to stick with you til the end?
