Soulful Chicago Bookfair is the biggest event of its kind in the country, the vision of Asadah Kirkland, author of Beating Blsck Kids, and a few other innovative authors and artists who recognized the need to tell history as ourstory, in the words of the griots of today - black authors who speak with the voices of experience. Authors are coming from across the country to greet the public that enjoys their work and wants to meet them face to face. This one day event on Saturday July 16, 2016, from 10am to 9pm will stretch down 61st street from Eberhart to Cottage Grove. Today's guest, Asadah Kirkland, gives us a glimpse of what to look forward to and how authors can still become a part of the Soulful Chicago Book fair.
