Making A Personal Pledge For Peace: What Principles Do YOU Promise To Live By?

Global peace is achieved by individuals making commitments to live by a certain set of principles and a code of ethics that protects their neighbors from harm. Do you promise to speak kindly to others? To not take things that belong to others without asking? To share what you have when needed by others? There is an organization that has created a global peace pledge that youth across the world are signing. Their first goal to reach 5,000 signatures has been reached and now they are seeking to reach 10,000.  What if the majority of the 7 billion people on Earth made a personal promise for peace? What if the majority of people on Earth promised never to take up arms against another human being? Do we as a society have the collective power to end war, regardless of a government's military agenda? How would you word such a pledge? Today we expand on the Global Peace Pledge, with the goal of creating a document that the majority of the inhabitants of Earth will accept as a personal pledge to end war for all time.
