Where do whites learn racial hatred? From the television? From their schools? From home? Today's discussion with a group of white youth reveals the subtle ways arrogance, disdain, and inconsideration of the needs of others is subtly reinforced in the institutions of home, school, even church, to perpetuate today's state of distrust between those of various racial and ethnic groups in America. How do we unlearn the idea that giving others equal opportunities and access to financial resources will diminish whatever we have? Can Americans learn to live by a set of values that reflect mutual respect of all people, regardless of race, religion or income? What can youth do to change America's culture of white arrogance?
