Emotions. They can drive people to do great things, but can also drive people to do terrible things. Men are often urged to "be cool" meaning, "don't show your emotions." But not showing emotions isn't the same as not having them. Pretending they are not there won't make them go away. Our emotional body directly affects our physical body, meaning all health and disease begins with our emotions. Emotions such as anger and unforgiveness often lead to cancer. Suppressing negative emotions, such as sadness, only cause the feelings to be expressed in some other, negative manner, such as alcoholism, drug abuse, promiscuous sex, binge eating, over spending and even gambling. Childhood abandonment or abuse can cause a lifetime of pain. An abusive marriage or a devastating divorce can leave adults too emotionally crippled to ever form a healthy relationship again. How do we heal emotional wounds from hurtful experiences in our lives?
