Fear. It can keep us from reaching out to make a friend of a stranger. It can keep us from committing to a long term relationship. It can cause prejudice and hostility toward people who really mean us no harm. It can keep us from reaching out to a neighbor in need and sharing what we have so that our neighbor is not hungry, cold and suffering. Why are we choosing to believe the worst about people who look different than us, speak a different language, practice a different religion or live on a different part of the Earth than us? Can we overcome barriers of fear and suspicion when our lives depend on it? Today we'll take a look at how the raging weather may force us to develop a culture of sharing and cooperation, rather than hoarding and competition. When the hurricane winds come our way, our lives may depend on it.
