If you ive in the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago, you know there have been major issues of conflict between the people and their elected leaders. At times the Administration of Governor Bruce Rauner have seemed openly hostile to the working class, teachers, youth, and African American people specifically. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, elected on the strength of his friendship with former President Barack Obama, has closed 50 schools across the city, negatively affecting primarily African American and Hispanic families. Would yu re-elect either of these leaders? Can you name three positive things either have done for African American communities? Do we need to choose leaders based on demonstrated ethics, values, and compassion for all citizens rather than for their political or business connections?
