This is the annual Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years holiday season, a time of family gatherings, gift giving and parties. This is also a time of deep depression for some people, who see their lives as not measuring up to what society (television, etc.) says it should be. What if you don't have a family to be with on Thanksgiving, to share in a big meal and enjoy food and fun with loved ones? What if you don't have enough money to buy presents at Christmas time? What if you don't have a special love interest to share the New Years celebrations with? Are you a failure in life? For those who have lost loved ones during the year, the holidays become a painful reminder of their loss, and grief intensifies. Those who find themselves without a home feel especially unloved during the holidays, because during this season of family gatherings they have no where to go. How do we reach out to those who have been forgotten during this season? Can we bring more joy to our own lives by sharing joy with others?
