What Do I Tell My Children Who Are Black? This is the title of a famous poem by the renowned Founder of the DuSable Museum Of African American History, Dr. Margaret Burroughs. What do I tell them? The answer should be, “The Same Thing I Tell My Children Who Are Brown, Red, Yellow and White: that they are a a part of the Divine creative energy of the universe and of and they have the power to create the world they desire. We who are parents must stop instilling our children with fear and belief that others hold power over them. Today we hear some words of from a few of our Voices Of Enlightenment to help us undo our programming of fear, dependency, and victimhood so that we can change what we tell our children.
