Nurses are the first responders in a health crisis. They are trained to act quickly in an emergency and are often the first to see patients in a hospital, even before the doctor. They are those heroes and heroines who save lives every day. We observe during this Black History Month that there was a time when Black women (and men) were barred from the nursing profession, but those barriers have been removed. Today is the 30th Annual Celebration of National Black Nurses Day, and today's guest is Registered Nurse Toni Oates whos will discuss this special recognition of Nurses in Community Health, Public Health, Correctional Health and Transplantation.
