Our children learn about the U.S. Constitution, the Amendments, and the Bill of Rights in school, but do they even know their rights if they are stopped, searched, questioned, arrested and charged with a crime? Law enforcement officers are just regular people, subject to errors in judgement and even wrong motives, driven by a legal system that demands judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys get through a backlog of cases in the court system as quickly as possible. The innocent are often coerced into plea bargaining or even intimidated (even tortured) into a false confession. How can we prepare our youth to face and fix a broken justice system? Today we will discuss how to prepare young people with the knowledge they need to defend their legal rights without fear.
